The Bikers Against Drugs movement was started on Woman’s Day 2006 as a joint effort between the Saldanha SAPS and the Motorcycle Fraternity of the West Coast.
The first event saw approximately 70 Bikers with their pillion riders forming a mass ride that took them past all the drug houses in Saldanha.
The outcome of this one singular event was so positive that we decided to form an organization called Bikers Against Drugs or BAD.
Since that first memorable ride in 2006, the organization has grown to the point where it now has entered into partnership with the Local Council.
The movement also enjoyed considerable press coverage in the past and recently the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has done a feature on us, this is to be broadcast in February or March 2009. We have successfully engaged other areas in the movement and have even extended its reach to Cape Town.
